This is a Monday night special only. Central 9th start cooking the burgers at 6.00 p.m. and a line usually forms just before. The store keeps grilling until the burgers run out, which at the time of writing in July 2022 is around 9.00 p.m. There’s nowhere to eat inside the store, but there is a small bench outside the store; or you can take your burger next door to Water Witch and enjoy over a craft cocktail.
Burger build: Two thin patties, two slices American cheese, special sauce, shredded lettuce
Price: $11
Stuart’s review: The thinner patties really make this one sing – effectively doubling the surface area available to char – as compared to one larger patty. Cooked quickly on the flattop the result is a a lot of crisp and crunch. The quick cooking means the interior remains juicy, and there’s a good beefy flavor. The toppings are simple and to the point. The bun is stellar, as you’d expect from Central 9th which is renowned for its house baked good; it has that perfect balance of strong support but doesn’t stray into the dense and heavy. I did find my burger particularly salty, which might have been from the flurry on the bun.

Reviews of this burger
Very fine burger
The use of the two thin patties for extra surface are char is a smart move. My only small complaint is I could probably manage a triple or quad patty, and the one day a week availability is tough.
